TCA’s sponsorship of congressional travel adheres to the guidelines set by the House Committee on Ethics. As such, TCA delegation members spend their time abroad in meetings with government officials and media, business, and academic leaders. TCA-sponsored trips have helped create a balanced dialogue in Washington about issues important to Turkish Americans; fostered friendship, understanding and cooperation between the U.S. and Turkey; and contributed to a realistic portrayal of Turkey and Turkish Americans in government, the media, and the arts.
In total, TCA has sponsored 18 delegation trips for members of Congress and their staff, bringing 10 members of Congress and 168 staff members to Turkey, a total 178 people. TCA has also co-sponsored 5 trips with other organizations as the lead sponsor. In addition, TCA has taken 13 state attorneys general to Turkey in cooperation with the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG).
