More Turkish Border Incursions Likely
Terrorist landmines exploding, paramilitary police stations being overrun, helicopters shot down, and cross-border incursions: The were daily headlines in Turkish newspapers covering the campaign against PKK terrorism in the first half of the 1990s. In the last few months they have returned to the front pages after the PKK renounced their so-called ceasefire (which never existed anyway, according to the “contact” tallies over the last few years). Fueled by supplies of military grade high explosives and modern weapons acquired in the "arms bazaar" in Kurdishcontrolled northern Iraq , the PKK has launched a spring offensive against Turkish security forces and civilians alike.
