TCA congratulates the members of the Congressional Caucus on U.S.-Turkey Relations and Turkish Americans who were sworn in January 6, 2015 to the 114th Congress, and recognizes those members who will not be returning to Congress for their lasting contributions to the Caucus.
“Congratulations to the members who won re-election and officially took their places in the 114th Congress,” said TCA President G. Lincoln McCurdy. “In the coming year the U.S.-Turkey partnership faces an ever increasing number of regional challenges, and it is critical that the two countries work together in promoting peace and stability in the region and the world. We look forward to contributing to the work of the Turkey Caucus by expanding dialogue on critical issues between the two countries and strengthening this vital alliance.”
Special congratulations also go Rep. Ed Whitfield (R-KY), Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN), Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), and Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), the four co-chars of the Turkey Caucus, who were all reelected with large margins. Click here for full election results.
TCA also recognizes the following three members of the Turkey Caucus who won Senate and Gubernatorial races:
- Rep. Shelly Moore Capito was elected to serve as a Senator for West Virginia;
- Rep. Bill Cassidy was elected to serve as a Senator for Louisiana; and
- Rep. Tim Griffin was elected to serve as Lieutenant Governor of Arkansas.
The Turkey Caucus is a bipartisan platform focusing on U.S.-Turkey relations and helping to ensure balanced dialogue on issues of importance to Turkish Americans.
