12th TCA Congressional Delegation Completes Visit to Turkey

TCA organized its 12th congressional delegation visit to Turkey on February 9-14. During their four-day visit, the delegation, comprised of Rep. Frank Guinta (R-N.H.) and three senior Congressional staffers, met with high-level Turkish officials, experts and representatives of Turkish civil society for a series discussions to gain a better understanding of Turkey, regional issues and US-Turkey relations. With this last delegation, TCA has taken 119 Members of Congress and senior staffers to Turkey and surrounding countries since May 2009. TCA Organizes 13th Congressional Trip to Turkey

TCA is getting ready for its 13th congressional delegation to be held on March 9-18, which will include visits to Istanbul and Ankara in Turkey and Sokpje and Ohrid in Macedonia. The delegation is scheduled to meet with senior government officials as well as civil society leaders, business community representatives and members of the press in both countries.

TCA Participates in 2012 Reservation Economic Summit

For the second consecutive year, TCA, along with an official Turkish delegation led by Deputy Undersecretary for Economy Cemalettin Damlaci, took part in the Reservation Economic Summit (RES) held in Las Vegas on February 27-March 1. TCA hosted a reception in honor of the Turkish delegation, which also included the Turkish Ambassador to the U.S. H.E. Namik Tan and representatives from two Turkish private firms. Organized by the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED), RES is the premier American Indian economic development conference held in the U.S.

TCA Hosts Freedom House Fellows

On February 15, TCA organized a meeting with legislative and civil society professionals from Turkey who were in Washington, DC as part of the Freedom House Legislative Fellows program. The fellows, who were briefed about TCA, had the chance to discuss the US legislative process and various issues of concern to the Turkish American community.

Congressional Caucus on Turkey Reaches 134 Members

The Congressional Caucus on US-Turkey Relations and Turkish Americans reached 134 members with Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska), Chairman for the House Subcommittee on Alaska Native and Indian Affairs, joining in February. The Caucus on Turkey is a bipartisan platform for Members of Congress to focus on issues that relate to Turkey, U.S.-Turkey relations and the Turkish American community.
