TCA Study Abroad In Turkey Scholarships For African American, Hispanic American, and Native American Students

TCA awards up to 100 scholarships per year for African American, Hispanic American and Native American students. These scholarships are awarded to eligible undergraduate and graduate students who have been accepted to a university in Turkey, The Turkish Republic of Northem Cyprus (TRNC) or Bosnia and Herzegovina.

1. What is TCA?

The Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) is an educational, charitable organization established in Washington, DC to educate the general public about Turkey and Turkish Americans; to engage and cultivate a new generation of young Turkish American leaders; to promote and advance the interests of the Turkish American community and Turks and to foster friendship, understanding and cooperation between the United States and Turkey.

2. What is Diversity Abroad?

Diversity Abroad (DA) is the leading global education organization targeting non-traditional students for international education opportunities. Founded in 2006, DA reaches high school, community college, university and graduate students for international education and other global exchange opportunities. Specifically, DA targets student groups who traditionally have not taken advantage of opportunities provided through global education exchanges.

3. How are TCA and Diversity Abroad related?

TCA and Diversity Abroad work together in recruiting, collecting and processing applications for TCA’s Study Abroad in Turkey Scholarships. After applicants send their applications to DA, an initial review is conducted before applications are sent to TCA for processing. Upon receipt, TCA will work with students’ study abroad offices to make arrangements for scholarship monies to be distributed. Although applications are accepted on a rolling basis, due to the nature of TCA’s agreement with DA, students are encouraged to send in their applications as soon as they receive an admission letter into a study abroad program in Turkey, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus or in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

4. Can graduate students apply?

TCA scholarships are offered to full-time undergraduate and graduate students who are US citizens or permanent residents of African American, Hispanic American and Native American heritage.

5. Are students eligible for a scholarship prior to acceptance into a Turkish university?

Student must be accepted to an accredited Turkish university through an American educational institution or study abroad provider.

6. What are the deadlines?

There is no deadline for TCA scholarships. Admission is on a rolling basis.

7. Will TCA or Diversity Abroad make living and travel arrangements for scholarship recipients?

Students must make their own arrangements through their study abroad offices or with Turkish institutions.

8. Where and when will the scholarship checks be sent?

Once applications are received, TCA will work as quickly as possible to ensure that scholarship recipients receive grants prior to their departure to Turkey. Checks will be sent to their study abroad administrators.

9. What is expected of scholarship recipients?

Scholarship recipients will have to agree to share their experiences in Turkey with the DiversityAbroad.com and TCA community. Scholars who study in Istanbul are also expected to visit TCA’s Istanbul office and stay engaged with TCA.

10. Is there an age limit for the scholarships?

There is no age requirement for students applying for TCA grants.

11. What is the scholarship amount?

Scholarships range from $500 to $2,000 depending on the duration of the program
